Can you believe February’s already come and gone? Here’s a quick roundup of all the events, masterclasses and networking sessions held by 24SIX9 during the very happening month of Feb 2024.
February Highlights - 24six9 Masterclass Series
Early Feb had us all reaching for our jackets as we kicked off the first masterclass of the month. Obediah Ayton, fundraising champion and Director, Dhabi Hold Co, regaled us with advice, stories and anecdotes to a crowd of founders, startups and aspiring entrepreneurs. His masterclass gave the crowd some real insight into “How to raise funds from Family Offices”, and a comprehensive Q&A session followed. Oh and DJ eighth set the scene with a lively set too, under the glimmering lights of a breezy February evening.
Our second masterclass of the month was led by none other than Jamil Shinawi, the funding maestro himself, on February 23rd. Jamil took charge of the stage and shared his insights on “Innovative Ideas for Innovative Funding”, covering advice on early-stage funding to relationship building with investors.
“Turn fundraising into a dinner party. You’ve got to wine and dine your investors and put in the work”, advised Jamil.
The masterclass also featured Mohammad Rasouli, the Founder and CEO of AIX2.ai, who joined us in collaboration with Startup Grind Dubai. Not only did he share his insights on investments and raising funds, but gave the crowd a rundown on the use of AI for investments through his experience at McKinsey and Stanford.
Pitch Roast Excitement
We had some of the most exciting #PitchRoast sessions on every other Friday at in5 Dubai this month, where we make it our business to give innovators the floor to present their ideas. We roasted pitches, offered constructive criticism, and help pitchers find sources to collaborate with. Each session led to some cutting takes and brutal roasting of ideas and pitches, but every participant was given a positive experience to retain.
One of the most exciting events this month was 24six9’s PitchFest at the STEP Conference 2024 at Dubai Internet City, held in collaboration with in5 Dubai. The very lively event saw participants entering into the Game of Pitches, taking over the stage for 3 minutes to pitch their ideas to 90+ investors. No pitch decks were allowed, just a microphone and a captive audience, and people made the most of it. For many, it was a chance to let their creativity burst through, from finding fun ways to share their networking information to giving out marketing collateral.
