24six9 Monthly E-newsletter - Edition #5

Summer is upon us in all its glory, but the community at 24six9 has been a very active one this May. The force has indeed been with us, as we battled, debated, roasted, and listened in reverence to founders across the region.

The 24six9 community is ever-evolving, and as we grow in numbers, so too do we grow in harboring innovation in each facet. We introduced Founder’s Talk last month, a series in which thought leaders and founders from across different sectors joined us to give advice, share their stories, and connect with new prospects.

Founders Talk #2 and #3

We held an exciting edition of Founders Talk on 10th May, hosting Mashfique Chowdhury, Founder DriveArabia.com. With his recent exit making the news, Mashfique helped us understand his journey from a startup to being acquired by dubizzle. It was a riveting session, with quite a buzzing Q&A session.

Our next edition of the 24six9 Founders Talk was held on May 24th, with the extremely talented and relentless Michele Wong, Founder ESG Access & MD, MLW Consultancy. From management’s best practices to holding your own in your entrepreneurial journey, Michelle treated the audience to riveting stories about her own startup, giving them insights into sustainability and social impact.

Startups without Borders Summit: Cairo May 2024

The 24six9 team then made its way to Cairo for the Startups Without Borders Summit 2024. We met the biggest and the brightest startups and sowed their roots for an upcoming 24six9 Cairo Chapter!

Pushing knowledge: Beauty & Wellness

The last event of May, held on the 31st, was a roaring success, as we hosted industry experts from the Beauty and Wellness sector. The roster was wild, from Yasmin Rose (Founder, Rise Birth Center), Dr. Rania Sheir (Senior Specialist, Ministry of Education & Entrepreneurial Advisory UAE), Dr. Dr Sheen Gurrib FRSA (Co-founder, PEN | ProfessionElle Network), Wajeeha Khurshad (Founder, Shy Concept) and our very own Anisha Oberoi (CEO & Founder, SECRET SKIN) sharing tips, insights and startup advice on beauty, hair and wellness.

The 24six9 Community truly came together to learn more about the spirit of perseverance for entrepreneurs in such a competitive industry.

Idea Labs and Pitch Roasts

Our first event of the month was held on 3rd May, with the usual setup of Idea Lab sprinkled with some light-hearted roasts. We hosted several creative individuals who shared their pitch decks and ideas and received invaluable feedback on what to improve and what to remove. The event was followed by a riveting debate, hosted by our very own 24six9 member Adil Tariq A., and an unofficial networking session.

The month of May was bustling, to say the least, with so much innovation happening in the region. But we didn’t let that stop us from holding several Pitch Roast sessions, as our roster increases. We had so many amazing people take to the stage this month, it was hard to keep count, but we commend each and every one of you for putting your ideas out there and getting REAL feedback. Here’s to your own spirit of perseverance, and may your ideas take flight in the craziest of ways.
