Hello 24six9 fam!

The month of August was a long one, brimming with unmatched energy and activity. We made good use of it with so many new lineups happening at In5 Tech Dubai, every Friday. We got to try out different ways to optimize networking, we got to meet some incredible people within the community and outside, and we got to introduce some new exciting new games to our Friday meetups. Suffice it to say it was a very happening month, and we’re excited to see which direction September takes!

But for now, let’s dive into some highlights from August.

Scathing Takes During Pitch Roast Fridays

We had an excellent session of Pitch Roast Fridays on August 2nd, with Jamil Shinawi taking to the stage. It was so exciting to witness so many new people get introduced to the 24six9 community, and take with them deeply useful insights about their ideas and startup journeys. We also had the pleasure of hosting Egor Romanyuk, who blew some minds with his wisdom about delivering a perfect pitch. Thank you for visiting, Egor!

Introducing Networking with a Twist

The following week, we introduced “Networking with a Twist”, an exciting new opportunity for everyone in the community to maximize networking. We separated people into two groups, handed them a Bingo sheet full of prompts, and let them have at it. At the end, we had the ever-excited Matt_Craft come up on the stage and pitch us his cool ideas. Networking with a Twist was a big hit, and we can’t wait to host another edition soon.

Deep Dive into Deep Tech

The next Friday, we had an energetic “Deep Tech Dispute” session hosted by AHOY’s very own Hood Khizer on August 16th. Hood helped us understand common deep-tech challenges in the MENAT region, and we took his lead in debating and sharing solutions for said disputes. We’ve never seen such a heated debate centered around deep tech, but we loved every second of it.

A Spot of Speed Networking

Next, we introduced another new way to network called “Speed Networking” on August 23rd. During the chaos of movement, we paired everyone up for 90 seconds each and let them grow their connections in real time. It was a somewhat deafening but highly energetic session, and much fun was had. And don’t worry, we’ll be bringing Speed Networking back soon!

The Return of Idea Lab

The last meetup of the month was held on August 30th, the much-awaited return of Idea Lab! We had several people lined up to share their ideas in front of mentors, investors and peers, and each walked away with amazing insights and next steps for their businesses. Each participant had 4 minutes to discuss their idea, with 10 minutes set aside for feedback on their ideas. It was a riveting session, and we’re so glad to bring back Idea Lab again!

The month of September is well underway, with everyone making their way back to Dubai after the summer. We’re so excited to reveal what we have lined up for everyone in the 24six9 community, so watch this space for updates!
